Women in the Golf Industry (WIGI) is hosting this month’s WIGI-pedia on the topic “Four Women Golf Course Architects: Re-defining the Grass Ceiling” on Tuesday, August 8th from 4:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m.  

WIGI President Kay McMahon will facilitate this online WIGI-pedia featuring four WIGI entrepreneur members exploring the challenges of golf course architecture in a male dominated industry, sustainability and playability for all golfers.

Featured speakers will include:

Jan Bel Jan - Founder & President, Jan Bel Jan Golf Course Design, established in 2009.  Jan was elected into the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) in 1990, has served on the ASGCA Executive Committee and was President 2019 - 2020.  She represents the ASGCA as a board member of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf and is a WIGI board member. Ms. Bel Jan has presented customized programs to PGA of America, LPGA, CMAA, GCSAA, and others on environmental economics, retaining and engaging more women in golf, and inclusion of people with disabilities in golf.  Sports Illustrated Plus named her among Top ten most influential women in the game of golf.”  www.janbeljan.com

Cynthia Dye - Founder & Principal Designer, Dye Design Group, founded in 2001.  She is also a member of American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA).   Dye Designs Group (DDG) have been actively carrying on the renowned Dye family architect legacy for more than 30 years.  DDG is based in Denver, Colorado serving management of their global projects which includes West Cliffs in Obidos, Portugal; CTS Tycoon Golf Club, Shenzhen, China; Cypress Country Club, Jeju Island, South Korea; White Horse Golf Club, Kingston, Wash.; and Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort – Wolf Course, Las Vegas.  www.dyedesignsgroup.com

Kari Haug - CEO & Founder - Kari Haug Planning and Design, Inc., founded in 2005. Kari is a golf course architect trained in Scotland and a full member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA.)  She serves on the EIGCA Council as the DEI Chair and is recognized in Europe as a leader in course design for women, senior men and other slow swing speed players.  Kari researched hitting distances for women with American club fitting company Club Champion and has applied the results of that study to her design practices.  Ms. Haug is committed to eco-sensitive and sustainable golf course design and the improvement of golf course playability for women and seniors. www.karihaug.com

Amanda Barbee - Senior Design Associate with Beau Welling Design (BWD), a golf course design and land planning firm located in Greenville, South Carolina and a Design Consultant with TGR Design, Tiger Woods’ golf course design firm located in Jupiter, Florida.  Amanda is a licensed landscape architect with a diverse background in design including golf course, hotel & resort, high-end residential, theme park, community master-planning, country club, and commercial projects.
